Challenge
Biriyani by Kilo’s Delhi outlet operates within a compact space, which created two simultaneous problems — uncomfortable ambient heat in the dining area and inadequate ventilation in the kitchen. To address these, the management initially trialled air washers. However, the air washers proved unsuitable: they required more installation space than was available and consumed considerably more power, making them neither practical nor cost-efficient for the outlet’s setup.
The need was clear — a single solution that could handle both kitchen ventilation and area cooling, fit within tight spatial constraints, and operate without excessive energy consumption. Any system that addressed only one of these requirements would be insufficient.
Solution
Symphony Venti-Cool’s team approached this as a three-part engineering challenge: select coolers compact enough for the limited space, configure them to support proper kitchen ventilation, and simultaneously ensure effective cooling for the dining area. After assessing the outlet’s floor plan and infrastructure, the team proposed VC20U and VC25U industrial duct coolers, fitted with ducting to channel airflow precisely where required.
The duct layout was carefully planned so that the units and ductwork did not encroach on usable kitchen or dining space. Despite the compact installation, the system delivered uniform ventilation and consistent cooling throughout the outlet — resolving both issues without the footprint or power demands of the previously attempted air washer setup.
Performance
The VC20U and VC25U are modular by design, allowing flexible positioning even in constrained environments. Powered by a robust 1.5 kW motor, each unit delivered steady and even air distribution across the outlet from the first day of operation. The ducting configuration enabled targeted airflow — directing fresh, cool air into the kitchen and dining zones simultaneously without creating pressure imbalances or dead zones.
Energy consumption remained well within acceptable limits, addressing the high-consumption concern that had disqualified the previous air washer solution. The installation was completed without interrupting regular service hours, and the system required no significant maintenance adjustments in the period following go-live.
Result
Biriyani by Kilo’s management expressed satisfaction with the outcome — specifically highlighting Symphony’s ability to deliver a practical, space-conscious solution quickly and without operational disruption. The dual challenge of kitchen ventilation and dining area cooling was resolved through a single, integrated system that fitted the outlet’s constraints precisely. The project validated the adaptability of Symphony Venti-Cool’s ducted cooling systems for compact food service environments.
