Challenge

St. Joseph School in Sambalpur is a reputed institution known for academic excellence. The school’s auditorium, situated on the top floor of the building, serves as the primary examination hall for students. Being on the top floor, the space is directly exposed to roof heat — and during summer examinations, temperatures inside the auditorium rose to uncomfortable levels. With a large number of students writing exams simultaneously, heat buildup was intense and difficult to manage through conventional means.

The school required a cooling solution capable of effectively managing heat across a 5,000 sq. ft. space at significant ceiling height, while maintaining even air distribution to ensure no student was sitting in a poorly cooled area during critical exams.

Solution

After assessing the auditorium’s dimensions, ceiling height, and heat load, Symphony Venti Cool recommended four Venticool 20U units — each fitted with two grills and installed at a height of 50 feet. This configuration was designed to push cool air downward from height, covering the entire floor area uniformly. The Venticool 20U’s four-side cooling pads and cool flow dispensers made it well-suited for delivering effective cooling across such a tall, open space.

The units’ thermally re-engineered, weather-resistant plastic bodies ensured reliable performance under the elevated heat conditions typical of a rooftop-level space. The energy-efficient, silent operation of the units also made them appropriate for an examination environment where concentration is critical. Each Venticool 20U unit effectively cools up to 1,200 sq. ft., making four units collectively sufficient to cover the full 5,000 sq. ft. auditorium floor.

Performance

Following installation, the auditorium maintained consistent temperature levels across all seating areas during examination periods. The elevated placement of the units with dual grills ensured airflow reached students across the full 5,000 sq. ft. floor without dead zones or uneven cooling. The system ran quietly throughout exam sessions without causing any distraction, and power consumption remained within the school’s budgetary limits.

Result

St. Joseph School confirmed that the cooled examination environment made a direct difference to student focus and performance. Students were no longer distracted or fatigued by heat during exams, enabling them to concentrate fully on their papers. The school expressed confidence in the system’s ability to support examination sessions reliably across future academic years.
